Imagine A Better World

...then make it a reality.

What sets humans apart from the rest of the animals on our little blue sphere is our ability for abstract and rational thought. We can look at the world and imagine it in different ways. We create abstract models of the world then test them against rational models. Then we redesign the world (still in our minds) until we find a better way.

That is the basis of technology and innovation. It all starts with an idea for solving a problem.

But it's easier said than done. It's hard to find problems. We are so used to working a certain way and living with limitations that it's hard to see an alternative.

That's why it is critical that you start training yourself to find problems. As an executive you must challenge the status quo at every opportunity. I'm not saying you should fly off the handle with a half-baked idea! I'm saying spend time challenging the "we've always done it this way" mindset that pervades businesses of all sizes.

Try thinking of new ways to do things. Investigate new methodologies that could be beneficial. Innovate new business models and products. That is how you can imagine a better world and then take the steps to make it real.

Are you imagining a better world?
