Letting Go: Learning How to Delegate

As an entrepreneur your dream is to grow a business. The problem is that as your business grows, you need to develop new skills. The most important of these is the ability to let go.

You need to focus on what you do best for the company and then let other people handle the rest. If you are an amazing salesman then you should be working the phones. If you are an brilliant engineer then you need to be inventing. Just make sure you hire slowly and choose the right person for the job.

If you micro-manage, you guarantee failure. You cannot be everywhere making every decision. Don't be one of those $50 million CEO's that insists on choosing the new fax machine from the catalog. Don't force people to come to you for every decision. That's insane.

You need to delegate power. That's tough sometimes. But if you want to achieve any kind of success, you need to do it. Focus on what you do best and let others do the rest. Only then will your business grow. Let go.

Anyone have any examples of micro-managing?
