Making Value Disappear: The Technology Magic Act

A good magician understands the power of misdirection. While drawing your eye in one direction, the magician is able to manipulate the outcome to perform his illusion. It is the most important element to all performance magic.

Sadly, technology developers have resorted to the same tactics. Cell phones sport more functions and features than ever before, but you still get dropped calls and poor reception. Notebook computers come with more and more bundled software, most of which only clutters your machine and eats up system resources.

Don't fall for "razzle dazzle" misdirection. Focus on your real business needs then find products that fulfill them. It's amazing how focusing direclty on your needs helps you eliminate the emotional draw of buying the prettier toy. Money is too tight right now for vanity purchases.
