Quoted to Myself

Last night I was at a business meeting with some prospective clients. We were enjoying some drinks after dinner and we were discussing the way technology has changed business. At one point in the conversation, one of the gentlemen sitting with us starts quoting this blog!

That has never happened to me before.

I highly recommend the feeling, by the way. It was great! Suddenly I am listening to my own words and ideas coming out of someone else's mouth. It was strange and exhilarating all at the same time. At first I didn't plan on saying anything because I didn't want to appear arrogant. I was content to let him talk. When the prospective customer asked where he got his information, he shrugged and claimed he could not remember.

I struggled with myself for about 3 seconds before I informed him that I was the author. Needless to say, my street cred shot through the roof with the client. We spent the rest of the evening discussing how I could help him achieve his business goals with an agreement to meet next week.

I have to admit, it was incredible and completely unexpected. So, feel free to quote me as much as you like. I am looking forward to the next time it happens!
