What Is Intelligence?

Human intelligence is:
  • The power to learn from experience
Fire burns. Ouch. Don't do that again. Experience teaches us more than any other. Remember, the Devil isn't dangerous because he's Evil Incarnate -- he's dangerous because he's old.

  • Adapting to new situations
Adaptation is all about changing to cope with your surroundings. It can also mean changing the environment or finding an entirely new one. We change to live better.

  • Understanding abstract concepts
Freedom. Justice. Words on a page. If you understand any of these, then you understand abstract concepts.

  • The ability to use knowledge
You apply what you know to solve the problem in front of you. They say that to a man with a hammer, every problem looks like a nail. I say you use what you have to solve the problem. Even hammers. You are able to apply knowledge to solve problems.

I don't say that, The Britannica Guide to the Brainsays it.

But you also have to know your strengths and weaknesses. Capitalize on your strengths -- compensate for weaknesses.

Intelligent people find a niche where they can operate most efficiently.

If you want to be intelligent, find your ideal environment - your niche. Now find a way to make money from the niche. Voila! You're in business.
