Wolfram Alpha

Scientist, inventor & author Stephen Wolfram is at it again. This time he is taking aim at Google in the hopes of unseating the current Internet search giant with his newest project Wolfram Alpha.

When it is released, it should be the first natural language search engine that computes answers for you. Google simply returns web documents that have keywords related to your search. Theoretically, you can ask Wolfram Alpha to provide you with the answers to your physics homework or to give you the total rainfall in Prague and get a factual answer.

If this works as advertised (and I have no doubt it does!) then this is a major step towards a semantic web! I can't wait till May to try it out!
